Hello folks, been a little while since I’ve been blogging but I can tell you not because I’m not busy:) I know as a wedding photographer I should have tons of wedding images up here but you already know I can do weddings so maybe you would like to see other things I do? I think it’s important that when you look for a photographer by checking out their blog that maybe they have a range of talent? It might be a good thing that the photographer you choose, trust and give thousands of dollars to, is also being trusted by celebrity and large corporations to do photography for them too, just sayin’
So last week,Thursday I get a Facebook message from my good buddy Justin Guarini JustinGuarini.com He writes to me “hey man I’m on a deadline I need one of those head shots you did for me. We need it Hi-res for the jumbo tron in Times Square when I’m introduced” I’m like” yea sure thing whats going on?” he said” I’m hosting a simulcast of the Tony Awards” Of coarse the next thing out of my mouth was “you need a photographer too, right?”
The next thing I know I was on the train to NYC Saturday night to meet Justin Sunday morning. Let me tell you it was a BLAST! What a great event and awesome folks to work with! I want to give a big shout out to Michelle Henning from Clear Channel Spetacolor who made sure I was fed and hydrated all day, what a really nice person she is and all of her staff. I also had the pleasure to meet and photograph Deborah Cox deborahcox.com who will be starring in the Broadway show The BodyGuard.
I was honored and privileged to be part of such a prestigious event. This is what Justin had to say about the event from the Playbill website http://www.playbill.com “This year’s Times Square celebration is going to be star-studded, packed with great performances, and bigger than ever before,” Guarini said in a prepared statement. “I couldn’t be more honored to have the incredible Deborah Cox as my partner-in-crime as we take the stage to help honor the wonderful shows that make Broadway and New York City one of the premier destinations in the world.”
There were 2000 people at this event an I must say as someone who is not a “show” person this event was really educational and inspirational. Working Broadway is tough you have to perform night after night kind of like a musician on tour or a professional athlete.
Justin and Deborah along with Justin’s band “The Payback” www.drivetimeuoj.com rocked Times Square! It was really a wonderful evening.
The biggest Shout out of the night goes to my friend Justin Guarini. He has done very well on Broadway. Guarini’s Broadway credits include Wicked, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, American Idiot and Romeo and Juliet. I think he is awesomely talented and I hope to one day be photographing him getting his own Tony Award. If I know Justin it’s not if, it’s when:)
Here are some more images from the event, enjoy.
